Chapter Five

Drake pulled out of Rider after a minute of holding him in his warm embrace. For the first time in Rider’s life, a sense of belonging and peace crept into his soul. Never had he met someone he desired as much as Drake, and he longed to know more about him. He still couldn’t believe Drake was real and not some figment of his naughty imagination.

The men bathed in the water together a second time, enjoying the exploration of each other’s bodies against the slippery soap. Rider looked at the smile on Drake’s face and a flash of familiarity danced in his mind. I’m positive I’ve never met this man before, and yet something’s nagging at me that I know him from somewhere. My instincts are usually right.

Feeling more than an intimate connection with Drake, Rider grasped his hand and led him out of the river. He took Drake to his favorite grassy spot in the sunshine, close to the river’s edge, and they stretched out, holding each other lovingly.

“I can’t believe we just did what we did,” Rider said, looking into Drake’s eyes.

“I can’t believe it, either. I wanted you yesterday, but, ah…” Drake averted his gaze from Rider.

“Yesterday? But we only met today. Or did we?” Rider forced Drake to look at him, “Drake, have we met before? Because there’s something so familiar about you, but I can’t quite place you.”

“I saw you in the river yesterday. You were enjoying yourself against the rocks. I wanted you the first moment I saw you, but I didn’t have to the courage to approach you. I’m glad I found the courage today to talk to you.”

“I’m glad you did, too.” Rider kissed him again, but Drake pulled back after a minute.

“Are you seeing anyone right now?”

“No. I actually broke up with my fiancée a short time ago. She keeps trying to lure me back for some reason, but there’s nothing between us.”

A broad smile crossed Drake’s lips, and he simply said, “Good.”

“Well, I have to head back to my grandmother’s cottage to see what chores I can do for her. I’d love you to come with me and meet her.”

“Well, I would, but I have slight problem.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I don’t have any clothes handy. It’s a long story. Suffice to say I don’t have a thing to wear, and I don’t think showing up naked to meet your grandmother would be making a good impression.”

Rider laughed at his new lover’s predicament. “I have an idea. Why don’t you come to the edge of her farm with me? I’ll run inside to get you some extra clothes to wear and bring them out to you. Then you’ll be presentable to my grandma.”

Smiling broadly, Drake nodded. “I think your plan might work. I’ll return your clothes when I find mine.”

“Don’t worry about it. Come on, we better go.” Standing up, he held out his hand to Drake to help him off the ground. Drake took his offered hand, allowing Rider to pull him up.
